Experiment Results

Texting: 12+2 people were invited over text via 1 group chat text
12 Said yes
1 of these people invited 2 more people
The day of: 12 of the 14 people showed up
2 had something come up the day of, so couldn’t make it
12 people showed up in total
Conclusion: Overall it was great! Everything went fairly smooth, but if we host bigger events there are some things that need to be in place so it can scale. The biggest thing we learned to do going forward is to charge the party favor money ahead of time. Your payment is your RSVP. This can be done with CashApp, Venmo, or ApplePay. Cash is a last resort and must be given before receiving the party favor. Also, charge in $5 increments. At restaurants, say that we will each be “paying and tipping separately” from the start so everyone is on the same page. Also, when sending out the text message, do not include the “tip” amount—that goes without saying in the US. Only include the amount to pay to RSVP + get party favor. Judah got CashApp and Venmo to make preemptive charging easier in the future and to minimize risk. Overall we learned a lot about how to handle money to make it easier for the organizers and the attendees when we host bigger events.
